Joseph J. Sertich III, age 56, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Friday, January 28, 2005, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Monongahela, Pa., following a long illness.

He was born April 27, 1948, in Waynesburg, Pa., son of Joseph J. Sertich Jr. and Stella Klimek Sertich of Carmichaels, Pa.

He was a retired coal miner from Nemacolin Mine and a member of Saint Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels and the United Mine Workers of America.

In addition to his parents he is survived by a daughter, Meredith Sertich of Morgantown, West Virginia; two brothers and one sister: his twin brother, John J. Sertich of Carmichaels, Pa., Richard Sertich and his wife, Marte, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dr. Patricia Sertich and her husband, Dennis O’Flynn O’Brien, of Landenburg, Pa.; two nephews and two nieces: John J. Sertich and his wife Sarah, Angela Sertich, Kate O’Flynn O’Brien and Den O’Flynn O’Brien; and his caregivers: his uncle, John Klimek, Harriet Cain, Margaret Cain, Debbie Hice and Rose Kennedy.

Friends will be received in the PAUL MICHAEL LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., Paul M. Lesako, Funeral Director/Supervisor, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 1, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Saint Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. Father John Bauer as Celebrant.

Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
