Service rescheduled The Klondike Clergy Association of Masontown postponed its worship service last Sunday due to the weather. A prayer service to pray for the victims of the December tsunami disaster will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Fairview Church of the Brethren, Fairview Hill Road in Masontown.

The Rev. Todd Kornahrens is the guest minister, and the Rev. Homer and the Rev. Pat Marshall are the host pastors.

An offering will be received to assist the victims; donations will be forwarded to Church World Service, a multi-church agency involved in worldwide relief efforts. (CWS is the sponsoring agency for the annual CROP Walk).

Booster meeting

The Colonial Band Booster meeting will be held on at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the high school library.

Immediately following at 8 p.m., all Jazz Fest parents and Jazz Fest ushers that will be helping the night of Feb. 25 are required to attend a walk-thru for that special evening.

Jazz Fest 2005

On Feb. 25 at 7 p.m., the Albert Gallatin High School Colonial Band is hosting its Jazz Fest 2005 concert.

Special performances by Laurel Highlands, Car-michaels, Brownsville, University High of Morgantown, W.Va., and Albert Gallatin jazz bands will be featured.

A special guest will be the world-renowned jazz guitarist Joe Negri from Pittsburgh.

The public is invited to attend.

Pal’s Club Social Ladies

The Pal’s Club Social Ladies Auxiliary will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. Jerry Burkholder is chairperson and will also donate the $5 door prize.

Sandy Allison and Sonya Kaiser were sworn in as new members. Sharon, Morris, Judy Angelo and Frances Havens are trustees; Kim Cavalier is sergeant-of-arms; and Rose Ann Troycheck is chaplain. Frances Havens is also in charge of publicity.

The Pal’s Social Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a ham bingo on March 6.

Catholic School Week

All Saints School will be holding an open house today from 1 to 3 p.m. Parents, grandparents and all family members are invited to view the children’s schoolwork and classroom.

Monday will be “Get Up and Move Day.” Throughout the day, at undesignated times, the students will hear music with instructions on what to do. Monday will also be “Crazy Sock Day,” when students are encouraged to wear mismatched socks.

Tuesday is “Ethnic Food Day.” This is the day the students celebrate foods from different cultures.

Parents are asked to bring in a covered dish from another country so that the students may experience different tastes. Tuesday is also “Crazy Hat Day,” when students are encouraged to wear a hat of their choice.

Wednesday is “Doughnuts with Donna.” After the student liturgy, everyone will gather in the cafeteria to honor Donna Parish for all her years of service to All Saints School. Doughnuts will be served to the students.

Kindergarten registration will be held on Wednesday. Anyone interested in sending their child to kindergarten, this is the perfect time to view the school, let your child visit the classroom and talk to parents about the school.

Registration is at 10 a.m., but other arrangements can be made by calling the office.

Thursday is “Black & Gold Day.” Students are permitted to wear black and gold and jeans and tennis shoes are permitted. Preschool registration will take place on this day. If you have a child of preschool age, please come and visit on Thursday.

Grandparents Day is scheduled for Friday. This is the day we honor our grandparents and say thanks for all they do. Parents will receive a designated time as to when the grandparents are to attend. A spaghetti luncheon will be served.

‘Let’s Be Frank’

All Saints Church will host “Let’s Be Frank,” a tribute to Frank Sinatra, on Feb. 12 at the church social hall in Masontown. In a Las Vegas dinner show atmosphere, Beau Wagner, former lead singer of The Four Coins and The Vogues, accompanied by the Joe Argiro Orchestra, will perform the music of Frank Sinatra.

The evening begins with a buffet dinner served at 6 p.m. Reservations and tickets are available by calling All Saints Church at 724-583-7866.

Italian Ladies Circle

The Italian Ladies Circle previously canceled their summer meetings because of vacations. At the last meeting, members decided to cancel the January, February and March meetings because of unpredictable weather. Meetings will resume in April and continue throughout the summer.
