Alvin E. Porter
Alvin E. Porter, 75, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Vesta 6, Pa., the son of the late George and Ethel Rice Porter. He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Porter.
Alvin served 20 years with the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He also served as the Postmaster of Denbo, Pa., for 18 years. Alvin was a charter member of the Bible Baptist Church, Brownsville, Pa., since 1968, and served as president of the corporation, financial secretary and deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Porter of Brownsville, Pa.; a son, Alvin E. Porter Jr., and wife, Kathy of Huntingdon, Pa.; three daughters, Terry Tepsic and husband, Mike of Tyrone, Pa., Sheri Haba of Washington, Pa., and Becky Falcon and husband, Robert of Braunsfels, Texas; three brothers, Robert Porter of Vesta 6, Pa., Harry Porter of Vesta 6, Pa., and Walter Porter of Brownsville, Pa.; a sister, Opal Albert of Vesta 6, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Lisa, Kerri, Wendy, Michael, Jesse, Rene, Heather, Cory and Allan; two great-grandchildren, Jayda and Sadie; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 729 Lewis St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 10 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Barry Stewart officiating. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., with military honors accorded by American Legion Posts No. 940, No. 175, No. 838, and No. 295.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Alvin’s name, to the Bible Baptist Church, 729 Lewis St., Brownsville, PA 15417..
