Genevie Waggoner
After a long and vibrant life, Genevie Ruse Waggoner died peacefully Thursday morning, June 30, 2005. Her husband of 43 years, Attorney Thomas A. Waggoner, her parents, Ella and Frank O. Ruse; her brothers, Null and Kenneth Ruse; and her grandson, Thomas A. Waggoner III preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sister, Marylou Curto and husband, J. Michael of Williamsburg, Va.; her daughter, Susan Fleming and husband, Robert of Chalk Hill; a son, Lee R. Waggoner and wife, Beverly of Woolford, Md.; a son, Thomas R. Waggoner and wife, Lynda of Farmington; grandchildren, Christina Lee of Chalk Hill, Drs. Johanna Verna and husband, Vincent of Johnstown, Lee R. Waggoner and wife, Anne of Falls Church, Va., and D’Etta Mullen and husband, Thomas of Westchester, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Mitchell and Ronald Vena, Robert Lee McDonald, Ella Lee, Sidney Schaffer and Michaela Mullen.
Genevie was a lifelong resident of Uniontown, and attended Bethany College. During her life, she was an active volunteer with many service organizations, including Child Welfare, the Service League, Green Gardeners, the American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, the Uniontown Hospital Auxiliary, and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. She held a lifelong interest in Bridge, playing regularly until the day before she died..
