Andrew F. “Andy” Palovchalk
Andrew F. “Andy” Palovchalk, age 86, of Trotter, Fayette County, Pa., died Friday, July 1, 2005, in Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown, Pa., after an extended illness.
He was born November 12, 1918, in Trotter, Fayette County, Pa., a son of John Palovchalk and Amelia Krihak Palovchalk.
Andrew graduated from the now former Dunbar Township High School.
Afterwards, he served and fought with the United States Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by the now former Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation in South Connellsville, as a laborer for over 25 years.
He was a member of Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville, The Catholic Slovak Sokol, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21, The Independent Slovak Citizens Club and the American Legion Post 301.
“Andy” was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Testa Palovchalk (October 7, 1975), an infant granddaughter, Sara, six sisters, Pauline, Susie, Mary, Emma, Margaret and Clara, a brother, Michael Palovchalk, and a brother-in-law, John “Pooch” Cossick.
He is survived by three children: John Palovchalk and his wife, Carol, of Bedford, Pa., Carol Palovchalk Osniak and her husband, Rick Osniak, of Everson, Pa., and Christine Palovchalk Duncan of Lexington, South Carolina; three grandchildren: Monica, Cassaundra and Adam; a sister, Agnes Palovchalk Cossick; and a brother, Joseph Palovchalk and his wife, Marguriete (Serafin) Palovchalk.
Visitation will be held in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., Dennis N. Heath, Supervisor, on Tuesday, July 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Wednesday, July 6, at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Father John Butler as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Cemetery where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 21 and the American Legion posts 301 and 762.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
