Salvation Army will host first ‘Fat Bird 5K’ event
The Uniontown Salvation Army will host the first annual “Flight of the Fat Bird 5K Run/Walk and Waddle Fun Walk’ on July 16. The corporate sponsor for this event is Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa in Farmington, and the event will be held on the resort grounds beginning at the Nemacolin Sundial Lodge and continuing through the Links Golf Course path and scenic roads.
Registration will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. and the event begins at 8:30 a.m. The registration fee is $15 through July 12; beginning July 13, the registration fee is $20. A special student rate of $10 applies to all students, high school and college, that participate in the event through July 12. Beginning July 19, the student rate is $15.
The family rate for Waddle Fun Walk is $30, which includes an unlimited number of participants and guarantees the family two T-shirts.
All proceeds from the events benefit families served by the Uniontown Salvation Army.
“We are appreciative of the generosity of our long-time friends, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa. We are looking forward to a great family event,” said Captain Debra Stedman of the Uniontown Salvation Army.
Following the 5K Run/Walk and Waddle Fun Walk, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa invites participants to stay on the grounds for family fun activities throughout the day.
