Fayette County jurors began hearing testimony Tuesday that a prisoner at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette in Labelle, Luzerne Township, spit on a correctional officer. Tyrone Moss, 41, is charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner for allegedly spitting on Sgt. Gary Robert Crayton on June 2, 2004.

State police at Belle Vernon allege that Moss was being transferred from one area to another when he spit in Crayton’s face. Moss is in prison on charges from Dauphin County.

The trial is before Judge John F. Wagner Jr.

The trial for a Fredericktown man accused of attempting to break into an auto shop began Tuesday in Fayette County Court.

Police allege Jacobs unsuccessfully tried to break into the business. A trooper saw him walking along Arch Bridge Road a short time later, and he allegedly had a crow bar with him.

The trial is before President Judge Conrad B. Capuzzi.

Michael Kingan’s retail theft trial began Tuesday in Fayette County Court.

Kingan, 29, of 220-B Eighty Acres Road in Dunbar allegedly conspired with a woman to steal children’s clothing from Dollar General at the Laurel Mall in Dunbar Township on Nov. 23, 2003.

State police alleged Kingan took a bag from the store and helped fill it with 15 outfits. The manager of the store stopped Kingan and the woman and took the clothing back, police said. The clothing was valued at $102, according to court records.

Kingan is charged with retail theft, attempted retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft.

The trial is before Judge Gerald R. Solomon.

State police allege that on July 9, 2003, he and another man took a 1994 Chevrolet truck from the parking lot of Domico’s Auto Parts along Fayette Street.

That truck was later used to commit other crimes in the North Union Township area, police allege. Those offenses were charged separately.
