July 7, 2005 Man acquitted

A 27-year-old Connellsville man was acquitted on all charges Wednesday in connection with the alleged theft of a truck in 2003.

State police alleged that James King of 244 Swink Hill Road participated in the theft of a 1994 Chevrolet truck from the lot of D’Amico’s Auto Parts in Dunbar Township on July 9, 2003.

He was charged with, but found not guilty of, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy to commit theft.

The trial was before Judge Steve P. Leskinen.

Man found not guilty

A Fredericktown man was found not guilty Wednesday of the two most serious charges filed against him in Fayette County Court.

John Jacobs, 45, of 1594 Morey Road was acquitted of attempted burglary and criminal trespass, but convicted of possessing an instrument of a crime.

State police alleged he used a crowbar Jan. 12, 2005, to try to break into Bell Automotive along University Drive in Dunbar Township, but jurors rejected that contention in their findings.

Court records indicate a trooper saw Jacobs walking along Arch Bridge Road a short time after someone called police about a suspicious person around the business, and he allegedly had a crowbar with him.

He will be sentenced later before President Judge Conrad B. Capuzzi.
