Philip Brumbaugh Crow
Philip Brumbaugh Crow of Chestnut Hill, Pa., died of natural causes with his family at his side in Pittsburgh, Pa. He died as he lived: with gentle grace. He was 84. Born in Uniontown, Pa., Mr. Crow was the fourth child of Frank Raymond Crow and Florence Brumbaugh Crow.
After serving in the United States Army Air Corps in the Second World War, he and his first wife, Elizabeth Chalfant Crow, returned to Pittsburgh where he attended the University of Pittsburgh on the GI Bill.
An executive with the Joseph Horne Company in Pittsburgh, Pa., the May Company in Jacksonville, Florida, and Gimbels in New York, Mr. Crow retired to Chestnut Hill with his second wife, the now late Ellen Ludwig Fisher Crow. There he worked with Grove Storage and supervised the Saint Vincent’s Food Cupboard Program for Saint Martin-in-the-Fields, where he was an active parishioner.
Mr. Crow will be remembered with love by his many friends; his five children: Abigail Rich, Lydia Potter and Alexander Crow all of Los Angeles, California, Philip Crow Jr. and Michael Crow both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; their spouses; and his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by Ellen’s children and granddaughter, Ellen DePasquale, of Cleveland, Ohio, whom he loved as his own; and his niece, Linda Crow of Wilmington, Delaware, and his nephew, Harte Crow and family of Etna, Vermont.
A Memorial Service will be held in August at Saint Martin-in-the-Fields, Chestnut Hill, Pa.
