Richard McGee and Lonnie Brooks, both of 29 Franklin St. were held ordered held for court at a preliminary hearing before Uniontown Magisterial District Judge Mark Blair.

McGee was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, and Brooks with criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.

Under questioning by Assistant District Attorney Michelle Kelley, the victim, James Dotson, testified that he went to Pershing Court to visit a friend around 7:36 p.m., but she wasn’t home.

He said he started walking back to his vehicle when McGee and Brooks called him over to them.

Dotson said Brooks circled behind him and when he turned around McGee was in front of him pointing a silver semi-automatic handgun at him.

Dotson testified that McGee then threatened to shoot if he didn’t empty his pockets, so he complied, and Brooks picked up his money and wallet before both ran off.

He said he had $600 to $700 in his pocket and in his wallet was a tax refund card for $400 to $500 from the IRS, noting that he got his tax refund back from the IRS.

Neither defendant testified.

McGee was represented by attorney Mark Mehalov and Brooks by attorney Dianne Zerega.
