Fatal crash State police at Washington said Paul C. Palyas, 40, of Scenery Hill died in an accident Tuesday at 2:31 p.m. when he hit a tree and his vehicle caught fire.
His passenger, Heather Holesapple, 24 of Fayette City managed to crawl from the 2004 Jeep Wrangler and was treated at a Pittsburgh Hospital. The accident occurred in the area of 186 Laurel Ridge Road.

City police said Kristie Lanegan reported that a number of unauthorized withdrawals have been made from her account at several bank machines in June. The matter is under investigation.

City police said William Thompson reported his 17-year-old son Jessie missing Tuesday at 1:55 a.m.

State police said Edward C. Herchko, 35, of Vanderbilt was charged with simple assault and harassment after he punched Kelly M. Herchko, 29, of Vanderbilt during an incident Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. at 342 Leisenring-Vanderbilt Road.

Two injured
State police said drivers Lucille Shirocky, 71, and Jeff Butler, 38, were involved in an accident Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. along New Salem Road. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, police said.

State police said someone took a whirlpool tub, a faucet and vinyl siding from a Virgin Run Road construction site operated by Image Builders of Perryopolis sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Tracy Mattie, 42, of West Brownsville told state police someone damaged the front door of her home sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A white and yellow Bobcat 873 side loader owned by John Roebuck was stolen from the yard of his 256 Virgin Run Road residence between Saturday and Tuesday, state police said.

Man charged
A city man is lodged in Fayette County Prison for allegedly stabbing another man in the back after a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation.
Steven Witherspoon, 38, of 314 N. Pittsburgh St., Apt. D is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault in connection with the July 9 incident that took place in the apartment complex.
According to the affidavit filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty, Tyrone Betters, no age or address given, was treated at Highlands Hospital following the incident.
Witherspoon was arraigned before Haggerty and remanded to jail after failing to post the $10,000 straight cash bond imposed during the hearing.
A July 27 preliminary hearing has been set in the matter.
Brownsville
Multiple charges
Brownsville police charged David D. Stimmell, 49, of Brownsville on a variety of charges after he was found inside a condemned vacant house at 122 Prospect St. July 2 at 12:44 a.m.
According to Brownsville police, they observed empty beer cans, food packaging and drug paraphernalia in the room where Stimmell was found sleeping.
Officers found a small amount of marijuana in a plastic bag in Stimmell’s right front pocket, as well as a pipe with marijuana residue in it and a rolled marijuana cigarette.
Stimmell was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, defiant trespassing and public intoxication. Stimmell was jailed in lieu of $1,000 cash bond, according to police.

One-car accident
State police reported that Alyssa Rutherford, 18, of Brownsville was not injured when she failed to negotiate a right curve on Route 166.
Her vehicle then hit some wooden steps on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
German Twp.
Guns stolen
State police reported that a truck owned by Jeffrey S. Cunningham of Connellsville was broken into Sunday between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. along Palmer Road near Chuck’s Boat Club.
Three firearms were stolen, according to police reports.
