Kasunic reappointed as Senate game, fisheries chairman
After a brief hiatus, state Sen. Richard A. Kasunic (D-Fayette/Somerset) has been reappointed to serve as Democratic chairman of the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee. Kasunic last served as ranking member on the committee during the 1999-2000 session of the General Assembly.
Kasunic sought reappointment to this post following a recent reshuffling of Senate standing committee assignments.
“Hunting and fishing are a huge part of Pennsylvania’s culture,” Kasunic said.
“I am pleased that my leadership role on the Game and Fisheries Committee provides the opportunity to further the interests of Pennsylvania’s sportsmen and sportswomen.”
Kasunic said he will continue to work on behalf of millions of Pennsylvania hunters and fishermen.
As Democratic chairman of the Game and Fisheries Committee, Kasunic plans to increase awareness about the concerns of the environment and how it affects wildlife.
“As an avid hunter and fisherman myself, I understand the importance of listening to this community,” Kasunic explained.
“I plan to make sure that their concerns are heard and acted on by the legislature,” said Kasunic.
Kasunic is also a member of Senate Democratic leadership.
