Stanley Karas

Stanley Karas, 82, of Fairchance, Pa., died unexpectedly early Saturday, July 16, 2005, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Shoaf, Pa., son of the late John Karas and Anne Berish Karas.

Stanley was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service at the Post Office in Parma, Ohio, for 20 years, until his retirement.

Stanley was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, and the Point Marion VFW Post 747.

Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth Stager Karas; two children, Marcia Bresson and husband, Steve of Ellicott City, Md., and John Karas of Rockville, Md.; two brothers, Francis Karas of Cleveland, Ohio, and Charles Karas of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Doris Bielecki of Phoenix, Ariz.

The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, until 9:30 a.m., when a prayer service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m., in Ss. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, Fairchance, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa., with military rites being accorded by Point Marion VFW Post 747.

Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday at 4 p.m., and the Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund, 50 North Morgantown St., Fairchance, PA 15436.
