Cars collide

Three people suffered injuries Monday evening when two vehicles collided along Route 88 in Centerville at the junction with Maple Glenn Road, Washington County 911 officials said.

Three medical helicopters responded to the 6:37 p.m. crash along with emergency crews from Denbo and Centerville volunteer fire companies, the Centerville Police Department and Brownsville Ambulance Service. No information regarding the unidentified patients was available at press time.

Dog shot

City police said an officer shot and killed a large and possibly rabid Rottweiler that was foaming from its mouth Sunday at 10:18 a.m. in the back yard of a home at 445 Braddock Ave.

Police said they responded to a report of a mean dog in the back yard of a home 416 Morgantown St. and found it there with its mouth foaming and flies all over its head. It had trouble walking, but wandered to the Braddock Avenue residence.

It advanced toward an officer, who shot it with a shotgun. The dog died instantly, and animal control officials were called to remove it and test it for rabies.

Man cited

Tracey Van Groves, 37, of Uniontown was cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he allegedly was found drinking beer Sunday at 12:25 p.m. behind Sam’s Restaurant on Morgantown Street and reportedly yelled obscenities at a bus stop, city police said.

Equipment taken

State police said a theodilite transit and a sump pump owned by Kusevich Contracting of Etna were stolen from Brownsville Area High School between May 20 and June 30.

CD player stolen

Jesse Sutton told city police Sunday at 7:30 p.m. that a compact disc player was stolen from her car at a convenience store on West Fayette Street.

Windows broken

City police said juveniles broke several windows on Sandra Gail McMaster’s Connellsville Street home Sunday at 5:24 a.m., and their parents agreed to pay for the damaged.

City police said a car owned by Heather Jesso was damaged with a brick at 388 Union St. Saturday at 12:48 a.m.

Juvenile charged

Southwest Regional Police charged a 17-year-old juvenile with simple assault, terroristic threats, two counts of cruelty to animals and retaliation to a witness or victim. The juvenile was also charged with public drunkenness, two counts of disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and underage drinking following multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding an incident July 12 at 9 p.m. on Market Street in Belle Vernon. The charges were filed with Fayette County Juvenile Probation.

Man cited for DUI

Southwest Regional Police cited Chris Havrilesko, 56, of Toledo, Ohio, for driving under the influence following a traffic stop Friday at 10:10 p.m. on Route 906 in Belle Vernon. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Jesse Cramer.

Window shot

A window at the Dairy Queen on National Pike East was shot July 13 at 7:20 p.m., according to Brownsville police.

Officers responding to the scene said there was a hole in the outer layer of glass and a chip on the inner layer of the front window. A dark-colored car that was driving at a high rate of speed was seen leaving the area, heading east on Route 40. No one was hurt in the incident.

Fireworks reported

Brownsville police received several calls last Thursday evening regarding fireworks being set off by juveniles on Howard Street. On both occasions, the children were gone before police arrived.

Charges filed

Police have filed charges against the following individuals in unrelated incidents:

– Justin L. Carnes, 20, of Connellsville, with driving under the influence and aggravated assault following a June 25 traffic stop when, police alleged, Carnes punched the arresting officer.

– Julie Skelton, 41, of Connellsville, with harassment and disorderly conduct after she allegedly pulled another female from her residence, shoved her down and pulled out some of the woman’s hair during a July 11 incident at North Manor.

Investigations continue

Police are conducting investigations into the following unrelated incidents:

– A July 11 theft of property lost or mislaid. Police said that the owner left a purse on her vehicle prior to departing a Memorial Boulevard grocery store and when she returned to retrieve it, the purse was gone.

– The July 12 theft of state license plate number EMP2491 from a vehicle.

– The July 13 theft of two DeWalt reciprocating saws, two cordless telephones, a General Electric digital answering system, a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker and two trash cans from a business located in the 300 block of South Pittsburgh Street.

Burglary attempted

State police said someone tried to break into the Foodland grocery store located along Route 40 with a crowbar but did not gain access to the building Monday at 1:35 a.m.

State police said a hitchhiker picked up by James Golden, 39, of Greensboro stole his 1990 Honda Accord in a Republic parking lot Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

According to state police, someone broke a window at the Dilliner General Store, owned by Marita Gugliotta, Sunday at 12:58 a.m.

Man charged

State police said charges of public drunkenness were filed against Robert Gephart, 26, of Waynesburg after he was allegedly found intoxicated along Bill George Drive at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Bulldozer damaged

According to state police, someone damaged a bulldozer, owned by Hoy Contracting, along Bald Hill Road between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.

Cars collide

State police said no one was injured when vehicles operated by Joseph Ostrander, 20, of Weston, W.Va. and George Eberhart Jr., 45, of Dilliner crashed along Interstate 79 Wednesday at 1:54 p.m.

Property damaged

State police said someone struck a fence and drove through a pasture owned by James Cowell of Waynesburg along Route 2011 Saturday at 2:20 a.m.
