Douglas D. VanVerth Sr.
Douglas D. VanVerth Sr., 51, of Point Marion, R.D., (Nilan), Pa., died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. Born Dec. 14, 1953, in Uniontown, Pa., he was a son of the late George Henry and Thelma Louise Murphy VanVerth.
For over 12 years, Doug was employed as the Assistant Operator of the Sewage Plant for the Borough of Point Marion. A graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, his memberships include the American Legion, Post 499, and the F.OE. No. 1932, both in Point Marion, and the Teamsters Local 491 in Uniontown.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Trautman VanVerth; three sons, George of Martin, Pa., and Douglas Jr. and Michael, both of Nilan; a daughter, Danielle at home; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Jackie) Rizer of New Geneva, and Virginia Boord of Smithfield; and by a number of nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley VanVerth; and a sister, Delores Henigan.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. David Lee Corob officiating. Interment follows in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva.
