Ben P. “Butch” Crimbly Jr.
Ben P. “Butch” Crimbly Jr., 61, of Point Marion R.D., Pa., died unexpectedly Thursday, July 21, 2005, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. Born March 7, 1944, in Greensburg, Pa., he was a son of Ben P. and Mary Butterworth Crimbly Sr., of Point Marion R.D.
He was a 1962 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, and a graduate of Waynesburg College with a Degree in Education.
After serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, he taught for five years at Smithfield Elementary School. Butch then joined the family business, Crimbly Trucking, and worked along side his father and mother for the past 30 years as Co-owner of the firm. He was currently serving his third term as Tax Collector of Springhill Township, and was a member of the United Methodist Church, and the I.O.O.F., No. 1173, both of Point Marion.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandra Thorpe Crimbly; his three girls and their husbands, Barbara and Dean Vance, Tonya and Allan Cottrell and Danielle and Wesley Sicina, all of Point Marion R.D.; his five grandchildren, to whom he was so devoted, Leah Marie Hall, Ashley, A.J., and John Cottrell and Kylie Sicina; a sister, Susan Crimbly of Point Marion; and a number of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday, in the Point Marion United Methodist Church from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Karen Gray officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, with military honors accorded at the graveside by the Faith-Gray-McArdle V.F.W Post 4584 of Masontown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be offered to the Point Marion United Methodist Church, 500 Morgantown St., Point Marion, PA 15474.
