Douglas R. “Doody” Arison
Douglas R. “Doody” Arison, 42, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, July 22, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 12, 1952, in Connellsville, Pa., a son of the late George Arison Sr.
Doody was a member of the Great Bethel Baptist Church in Uniontown.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Lawson Excavating Company. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his all terrain vehicles.
He was a member of the F.O. Eagles No. 493 in Connellsville.
Doody is survived by his wife, Robin Marie Reese Arison, to whom he was married to for nine years; four children, Sonya, Rebecca, Natasha and David; two brothers, William Arison and wife, Rebecca of Chesapeake, Va., and George Arison of Connellsville; six sisters, Susan Cordell of Chesapeake, Va., Roz Dewitt and husband, Scott of Kingwood, W.Va., Mary Campbell of Mason, Ohio, Belinda Arison of Mobile, Ala., Darniece Stoots and husband, Robert and Diane Arison, all of Connellsville; maternal grandmother, Verna Hiltabidel of Connellsville, Christine Victor and George Porterfield, who raised Doody since childhood, and he considered them his mother and father.
His extended family are his brothers, George Porterfield Jr., and wife, Torie of Mount Pleasant, Randy Porterfield and wife, Barb of Connellsville, Ben Porterfield and wife, Tracy of Mill Run and Randy Casterdad of Ohio; and several other brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Family and friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 South First St., West Side, Connellsville, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Neil W. Hoppe officiating. Interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home, 123 South First St., West Side, Connellsville, PA 15425.
