George William Gaster
George William Gaster, age 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital.
He was born in Shoaf, Pa., on November 9, 1927, the son of George Eugene Gaster and Erma Jean (Harris) Gaster.
George was the former owner of the The Market Basket, Penn Craft Foods and the Footedale Market. George’s motto was “Family that sticks together in business cannot be stopped.”
He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, two brothers, Harold Gaster and Jack Gaster, and three sisters, Bonnie Fike, Dolores Lint and Chloe Kolasky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Margaret (Fisher) Gaster; the following children: George E. Gaster and wife, Dolores, of Smithfield, Pa., William B. Gaster and wife, Kathleen, of Brownsville, Pa., Mary Jo Sinosky and husband, Ronald, of Penn Craft, Pa., Jackie Gaster of Collier, Pa., Donna Jackson Stokes and husband, Stanley, of Penn Craft and Janet Shaffer and husband, John, of Footedale, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters: Vivian Glover of Ohio and Reta Louis of Uniontown, Pa.; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 19 LEGION STREET, REPUBLC, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 27, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Kenneth Walls officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
