Lester L. Murphy

Lester L. Murphy, age 79, of Coal Center, Pa., died Sunday, July 24, 2005. He was born October 19, 1925, in German Township, Pa., a son of the late George and Essie (Franks) Murphy.

Lester was a World War II Veteran. He proudly served with the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper and the 517th Parachute Infrintry Company F where he had five combat jumps and two glider rides.

He worked for Lee Norse in Charleroi, Albert Gallatin Heath Care and was the long time Chief of Police in Long Branch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Luko Murphy (in 1999); four brothers, George, Wayne, Glenn and Dale Murphy and one sister, Shirley Holland.

Left to Cherish his memory are his children: daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Elmer Berish of Coal Center, Pa., and son, Bruce Murphy and fianc? Marianne, of Coal Center; sister, Mary Lois Beattie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Angie Murphy, and Bob and Jean Murphy all of Cleveland, Ohio. He also leaves behind two grandson: Joseph and wife, Holly Berish of Richeyville, Pa., and Jeremy Berish of Coal Center; two great-grandsons: Joseph John “JJ” Berish and Tyler Berish; and companion Anna Grace Cramer, of Grindstone, Pa.

Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC.,Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, Pa., on Wednesday, July 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 10:30 a.m. on Friday when a Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home followed by an 11 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Thomas Aquinas Church with Father George Moneck officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
