Alfred E. (Geizel) Veatch Jr., 73, of Brownsville, Pa., died Monday, July 25, 2005, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1932, in Brownsville, Pa., son of the late Alfred E. Veatch Sr., and Thelma Worrell Veatch.

He was a member of Northside Fire Department, with 39 years of service. He retired from Hillman Barge Company.

Alfred was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of American Legion Post 295 of Brownsville, Pa., Bridgeport Young Men’s Club, and the Brownsville Eagles.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Dolores Tedrow Veatch.

Surviving are five children, Starlet Petroff and husband, Joe of Brownsville, Pa., Sandy Dilliner and husband, Keith of New Salem, Pa., Lois Hurt and husband, Chuck of Locust Grove, Va., Gary Veatch and wife, Loweda of Hiller, Pa., and Alfred E. Veatch III and fianc?, Tina Muchisko of Brownsville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Joe and Terry Petroff, Mark, Keith and Faith Dilliner, Destiny Lenkey, Kali McGhee, Sydnee and Hannah Veatch and Alfred E. Veatch IV; and a brother, Melvin Terry Veatch and wife, Faye of Portage, Ind.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Friday at noon, with the Rev. Paul E. Wilson Sr., officiating. Entombment in LaFayette Memorial Park. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 295, 275, 940 and 838.
