Tire fire in Ronco

1 min read

Volunteer firefighters from five departments battled a fire at Clark’s Iron and Scrap on Short Cut Road in Ronco for about two hours Thursday. Assistant Ronco Fire Chief Rob Seper said workers were cutting up a vehicle when it caught fire. “They were cutting cars and one of the cars ignited, and it went from there,” Seper said, adding that the fire was an accident. He said five or six cars and an unknown number of tires caught fire, but it was “knocked down pretty quick.” No injuries were reported. Donald Clark owns the scrap yard. Firefighters from Masontown, Edenborn, McClellandtown and Footedale assisted Ronco. They were dispatched at 2:19 p.m. and left the scene at 4 p.m.
