Break-in reported Brownsville police were called to 52 Cemetery Road by neighbors who said they thought someone had broken into the residence. Police found that two apartments, 52 and 54 Cemetery Road, had been entered, but found nobody inside either one. Amber Perkins, the tenant at 52 Cemetery Road, told police that a stereo and some Mountain Dew were taken. The stereo is a black and gray one-disk CD player. Patricia Coburn of 54 Cemetery Road told police that drawers in her home were opened, but nothing was missing. The incident occurred Tuesday at 10:54 p.m. The investigation is continuing.

Brownsville

Man charged

Brownsville police charged Jerry Mapstone, 32, no address listed, with defiant trespassing and harassment following an incident July 22 at 1:26 p.m.

According to police, Mapstone went to his mother’s home at 430 Clover St. and asked for money, which she refused. Mapstone is not permitted at the Clover Street address, resulting in the defiant trespassing charge.

Vehicle entered

Joshua Turkovich, 22, of Monessen, told California Borough police that someone entered his father’s vehicle that was parked in the 100 block of Water Street while he was boating. Turkovich told police the incident occurred between 2 and 4 p.m. July 23.

Missing from the vehicle was a Glock .40-cal. firearm, cash, and a number of music compact discs.

A group of teenaged males had been seen loitering in the area. The vehicle was reportedly locked, but there were no signs of forced entry, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact California police at 724-938-3233.

Sexual assault reported

California Borough police received a report of voluntary deviant sexual intercourse involving a 13-year-old girl and 25-year-old male involving incidents during June. Police are continuing their investigation.

Car stolen

A black two-door 1991 Subaru Impreza owned by Mark Edward Snyder, 20, was stolen from outside of his 306 Claire St. home between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, and was found completely burned in Wheeler Bottom on Wednesday, state police said.

Equipment theft

A welding machine owned by R.A. Monzo Construction of Latrobe was stolen from the township sewage authority’s treatment plant between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday, state police said. On July 12, a concrete saw also owned by Monzo was stolen from the side of the road near the plant, police said.

Burglary reported

The Maxx in Oliver Square was entered Tuesday between 10:30 and 11:50 p.m. when it was closed and cash was stolen from the office, and a video poker machine was damaged, state police said.

Cash box stolen

A cash box owned by Bullskin Township Little League was stolen from a concession stand at the league field on Englishman Hill Road between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Prescription stolen

State police said two white males in their late 20s stole a bottle of prescription hydrocodone from Anna C. Wildey’s West Pennsville Street home Tuesday at 4 p.m. Police said the men claimed to be working for Royal Foods and were selling frozen meat door to door.

They left in a white Ford pick up truck with a white freezer chest in the bed.

Man arrested

Harry Kuhns, 59, of 187 Rear North Gallatin Avenue was arrested on five outstanding summary warrants from Magisterial District Judge Mark Blair’s office Wednesday at 3:19 p.m. Blair sentenced him to 72 hours in the county prison, police said.

City police said Rodney Lee Savage, 46, of 110 Walter St. was cited with public drunkenness after he was seen staggering along South Mount Vernon Avenue Thursday at 12:17 a.m.

City police said a homeless man, Frank Campbell, 48, was cited with public drunkenness after he allegedly walked into a woman’s East Penn Street residence Thursday at 12:31 a.m. and left.

State police said someone broke into a vehicle owned by Walter Lehman at his 157 Lower Oliver 3 home and stolen something Wednesday at 5:30 a.m.

Two Laurel Ridge Realty sale signs were stolen from homes in Deer Lake between July 20 and 25, state police said.
