Bullskin man’s trial continued
The trial for a Bullskin Township man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman last February continued Tuesday in Fayette County Court. Robert J. Schroyer, 28, of 333 Bellview Road is charged with kidnapping, rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, stalking and terroristic threats in connection with the Feb. 13, 2004, incident.
State police alleged Schroyer forced the woman’s car off the road, took her captive and raped her at a township home. She escaped once, and made her way to a neighbor’s home, but Schroyer allegedly grabbed her and drug her back.
That neighbor called police, who responded to the home, and the woman was able to escape. Schroyer fled police, and went to a Keefer Road home, where he allegedly held police at bay for several hours.
He had a shotgun with him, and reportedly shot himself in the abdomen, ending the standoff. He was charged while recuperating in the hospital.
Schroyer’s trial is being held before Judge Gerald R. Solomon. Jurors will likely get the case for deliberations today.
