William Glenn Mitchell
William Glenn Mitchell, age 80, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born April 4, 1925, in Uniontown, Pa., the only son of George and Goldie Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Smithfield, and a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Bricklayers Local No. 9 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa.
He had been a substitute teacher at the Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School until 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David R. “Bob” Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Deck) Mitchell; children: Glenn William Mitchell of Tampa, Florida, Lynn Baker and her husband, David, of Perryopolis, Pa., Kathy Ohler and her husband, Rodney, of Salineville, Ohio, Kevin Mitchell and his wife, Margaret “Peggy” of Mullica Hills, New Jersey, and Teddy Mitchell and his wife, Lynette, of Uniontown, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Kelley and Jennifer, Erik, Chad and Carley, Patrick Elizabeth and John; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, June 13, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Jay Hurley officiating.
Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
