Flag Day event today The Hopwood Village Project’s annual Flag Day program begins at 6 p.m. today at the Hopwood Fitness Center on Route 40.
John Petro, a member of the Hopwood Village Project, said the program is meant to honor all veterans from all wars.
“Veterans revere the flag,” Petro said.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will participate in a presentation about the American flag. The presentation will feature the history of the flag, beginning with the creation of the 13-star flag.
Joseph A. Hardy III donated the flags for the program.
The keynote speaker is Pat Britt, commander of Amvets Post 103 in Hopwood.
VFW Post 47’s National Band will perform a concert at 7 p.m.

Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will be flushing hydrants in Luzerne Township through Friday. Customers in that area may experience a temporary drop in pressure, loss of pressure or discolored water.
