Glenn W. “Bill” Haines, 86, of Waynesburg, Pa., died at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Greene County Memorial Hospital emergency room in Waynesburg, Pa. He was born on Thursday, Sept. 12, 1918, in Waynesburg, Pa., the son of the late Charles L. and Elizabeth V. Phillips Haines.

Mr. Haines was a member of the Oakview United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and later served with the Pa. National Guard. He worked for several years as a carpenter for Wayne Lumber Company, in Waynesburg. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union from which he retired after working for several different contractors. He was also a self-employed carpenter for several years.

Surviving are his wife, Margie Lemley Haines, whom he married on Dec. 23, 1939; three daughters and spouses, Sandy and David Martin of Houston, Texas, Glenda and Dick Hughes of Uniontown, and Colleen and Bob Casteel of Fairmont, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great great-daughter; one brother, Paul Eugene Haines of Peters Township, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles “Junior” Haines and James L. “Duke” Haines; and two sisters, Lillian Zimmerman and Margaret H. Smith.
