Missing man’s body located

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

GEORGES TWP. – The body of a 78-year-old missing Uniontown man was found in a wooded area along Burgessfield Road Thursday morning after investigators and local emergency crews worked throughout the morning searching for a possible armed suspect in the wooded area in Georges Township. A Fairchance volunteer firefighter discovered the body of Harold Milton Warman of Frogtown Road at the scene after hours of searching and conflicting reports about the nature of the incident.

State police said Warman died of natural causes.

Early on, police and emergency officials reported that shots had been fired at the location where the body was discovered and were treating the scene with extreme caution, with search and rescue teams in the woods around the area.

Additionally, a police helicopter and three detectives scoured the wooded area along Burgessfield Road throughout the morning after Fayette County 911 received the initial call regarding possible gunshots at the site at 8:06 a.m.

But police said Thursday evening that they did not believe foul play or gunplay was involved in the incident and were treating the death as routine.

The Fayette County Coroner’s office pronounced Warman dead at the scene around 11:45 a.m. in the woods near railroad tracks that cross Burgessfield.

Warman’s family had reported him missing Wednesday night around 9 p.m. when he disappeared from his 159 Frogtown Road home.

In addition to the state police, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team along with the Fayette County Coroner’s office, Fairchance Volunteer Fire Department and Fairchance EMS responded to the scene.
