Cat shot, killed with arrow
GEORGES TWP. – Someone shot a domesticated cat with a bow and arrow in Dupont Village Monday morning, allowing the animal to suffer before it died nearly three hours later. “This is someone who knew what they were doing,” said Robin Moore, humane police officer, who is investigating the case. “They used a practice or a field tip on an arrow for a heart shot. If they used a broad head, which they go hunting with, the cat would have died instantly.
“It was a suffering killing, not an instant killing,” she added.
The cat’s owner, Jenny Gabeletto of Dupont Village, said she woke up this morning around 6:30 a.m. and went to let her other cat in the house when she saw “Snowball” standing on the porch still alive with the arrow stuck through it near the shoulders. She received a call around 11 a.m. informing her that the animal had died. “It was a good cat, too,” Gabeletto said.
She said the cat probably proved an easy shot since it limped because of an abscess on its paw that she was treating. The pet owner added that she had plans to bathe the cat that morning.
Moore asked anyone who has information on the killing to call Noah’s Ark of Fayette County at 724-439-8620 or 724-439-8624.
