Grace M. Rittenhouse Brown, age 94, of Vanderbilt, Pa., passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005, in Uniontown, Pa.

She was born November 28, 1910, in Smock, Pa., daughter of Hazen Rittenhouse and Anna Elizabeth Shaffer Rittenhouse.

Grace was a member of Star Junction Baptist Church, Curfew Grange 1052 and The National Grange.

She graduated from Uniontown High School Class of 1928 and California State Teachers College (now California University of Pennsylvania) in California, Pa.

Grace taught second, third and fourth grades at Smock School.

Grace retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul E. Brown, her brother, James Rittenhouse, and a sister-in-law, Hazel Brown Rittenhouse.

She is survived by one son, Robert E. Brown and his wife, Linda, of Ocala, Florida; a niece, Mrs. Bernard (Joanne) Kieta of Smock, Pa.; and nephews: James Rittenhouse, Richard Rittenhouse and his wife, Wilma, and Roger Rittenhouse and his wife, Carole, all of Smock, Pa.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today, June 21, until 2 p.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Donald Bowser officiating.

Interment will follow in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, Vanderbilt R.D. 1, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Star Junction Baptist Church, Star Junction, PA 15482.

Visitation was also held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
