Motorcyclist hospitalized

State police said Charles Kushak Jr., 57, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC in Pittsburgh with a moderate head injury after he wrecked his 1982 Honda Lestarr motorcycle Tuesday at the intersection of Old Pittsburgh Road and Route 51 at 1:20 p.m. Kushak drove up an embankment, struck a utility pole guide wire and the motorcycle went airborne, launching him 36 feet before impacting with the ground. He was not wearing a helmet. Traffic citations will be filed, according to state police at Uniontown. Fire departments from North Union and West Leisenring responded, as did the Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance, according to Fayette County 911. The scene was clear by 2 p.m.
