Woman man face jail time in weapons case

By Jennifer Harr 2 min read

A woman who pleaded guilty to pointing a gun at someone before her boyfriend fatally shot a man in 2002 could end up serving her time in jail. Tamika Withrow’s adult probation officer has filed a petition to remove her from the Intermediate Punishment program because she allegedly lied to him about where she was. The program essentially allows a defendant to serve time on house arrest.

A report contends that Withrow, 23, had to get permission from the adult probation office to leave for work while on the program. She did, but on several occasions between Nov. 26, 2004, and Jan. 4, the report contends, she lied about where she was.

The report alleges that when the officer checked with her work, he found Withrow was not at her employer, Hillside Manor Personal Care Home, when she claimed to be.

A judge on Monday set a March 29 hearing to determine if the allegations warrant Withrow’s removal from the Intermediate Punishment program.

In 2003, Withrow told a jury she was engaged to marry Tyrique “Ghetto” Patterson when he fatally shot Tony Thomas.

Both she and Patterson testified that Thomas or someone with him fired a gun first, and Patterson was defending himself when he fired back on Nov. 29, 2002.

Patterson was convicted of third-degree murder and robbery of a motor vehicle, and sentenced to 221/2 to 45 years in prison.
