Elton Ross Scott, 93, of Jefferson, Pa., formerly of Addison, Pa., died March 9, 2005, in Beverly Health Care in Waynesburg. He was born March 27, 1911, in Marianna, Pa., a son of Eli Ross and Besse Hetherington Scott.

Mr. Scott was a 1929 graduate of Trinity High School and worked for Washington Steel for 23 years, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington, the B.P.O.E. Lodge 776, Sunset Lodge 623, F&AM, and the V.F.W. in Confluence.

Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Surviving are a sister, Mae Lorine Jacobs of Sarasota, Fla., six nieces and nephews, Theodore Jacobs, Diane Edwards, Scott Jacobs, Charles Scott, Patricia Baldwin and Robert Scott; and a great-niece, April Holcomb, with whom he made his home for the last four years.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hetherington Scott and a nephew, Thomas Scott.

Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Sunday, in the PIATT & BARNHILL FUNERAL HOME, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 14, 2005, with the Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery. Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc.
