Alexander Lenkey
Alexander Lenkey, 78, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his home. Born on July 26, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Harangazoo Lenkey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve; an infant great-grandson, Moses Joseph; and his wife, JoAnne Lenkey.
Alex will be sadly missed by his children, Terry Lenkey and his wife, DeeAnn of Shawnee, Kan.; a daughters, Alexis Lee and her husband, Mark and Patricia Larson and her husband, Jack, all of Brownsville, John Lenkey of Allison No. 2, Pa., Debra House and her husband, Greg of Leawood, Kan., and Rick Lenkey and his wife, JoAnn of Powell, Ohio; brothers, Frank Lenkey and his wife, Garnella of West Brownsville, Pa., and Andrew Lenkey and wife, Patricia of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Mary Stefanic of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Alex served his country as a Seaman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers’ Association and the American Legion Post No. 940 of West Brownsville, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, (formerly Confer Funeral Home), 515 Front St., Brownsville, Pa., today until 10:30 a.m., the hour of service, with his son, Rick Lenkey officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, with full military honors accorded by American Legion Posts No. 940, No. 175, No. 838 and No. 295.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alex’s name to Fayette Home Care & Hospice, 100 Woodlawn Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401. Visitation was also held on Tuesday, March 22, from 5 to 9 p.m.
