Calendar party scheduled Fayette Friends of Animals, a no-kill animal rescue shelter, will hold a calendar party and Chinese auction on Sunday, May 22, at the Polish Hall on South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown.
Proceeds from this fund-raising event are used to keep the shelter in operation. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the event or wants to donate to the Chinese auction is asked to call Lucinda at 724-439-5246 or the shelter at 724-245-7815.
Art club plans events
The Uniontown Art Club will host a book signing for Bernadine Hagan’s book on Kentuck Knob, her former home, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Uniontown Public Library.
The club’s next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the library’s second floor. The art club will participate in the National Road Festival on Friday, May 21, with painting demonstrations and an 8-foot canvas, depicting historic scenes.
Program set
Mount Zion Baptist Church, Grindstone, will have its annual Usher Board program Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
The guest speaker is the Rev. Timothy Sawyer of Zion Baptist Church in Jeannette, accompanied by his choir and congregation.
Polling place changed
The Fayette County Election Bureau has sent out another update on the new and temporary Washington Township District 2 polling place.
This one clarifies that affected voters are those in the Gillespie precinct who have been voting at the Slovak Club on Carlson Lane in Fayette City. They will vote Tuesday at a temporary new home, the Washington Township Social Hall on Axton Avenue.
Laurie A. Nicholson, director of the Fayette County Election Bureau, made the announcement Friday, stressing that the change affects registered voters in the Washington Township District 2/Gillespie precinct.
Church to host session
Shiloh Church of God in Christ, located at 55 Butler St., Uniontown, will host a session on abusive relationships on Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.
Patricia Mowen, a prevention educator at the Crime Victims Center in Uniontown, will present information and have literature available.
