John R. Schafer
John R. Schafer, 80, of Newell, Pa., died Sunday, October 30, 2005, in Mon Valley Hospital Inc. He was born November 8, 1924 in Newell, Pa., a son of the late John and the late Helen (Bock) Schafer.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Newell and current member of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.
John was retired from the United States Government Bureau of Prison’s.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella A. Patsko Schafer; three sons: Matthew Schafer of San Diego, Calf., Mark Schafer of Desert Hot Springs, Calf., Luke Schafer of Camarillo, Calf.; one daughter, Bernadette Weinberg of Santa Barbara, Calf. Also survived by three grandchildren.
He was preceded – death by a sister Molly Schafer.
Friends will be received in the ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, Pa., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, November 4, 2005, until 9:30 a.m. when a Blessing Service will take place followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Lawrence Manchas as Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in the LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
