Agency to host open house
Penn State Cooperative Extension, Fayette County, invites the public to its open house from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 10. The open house will provide an opportunity to see Cooperative Extension’s new facilities and equipment in their new offices at 34 W. Peter St., the Federal Building, in Uniontown.
“These new facilities allow us to better serve the community with expanded access to our research-based education programs,” said Donald C. Fretts, county extension director.
“We appreciate the support of the Fayette County commissioners in securing us this location.”
Formerly located in the basement of the Fayette County Courthouse, Cooperative Extension’s new offices on the second floor of the Federal Building support advances such as a state-of-the-art meeting room with audio-visual equipment and videoconferencing capabilities.
The open house will feature demonstrations and exhibits that will introduce those attending the open house to the breadth and depth of educational programming offered by Cooperative Extension.
For instance, people who come to the open house can learn about proper nutrition, grant writing, agri-business opportunity, West Nile virus, fitness and health and youth leadership programs. The annual report will be presented at 5:30 p.m. and also is open to the public.
The director of Penn State Cooperative Extension, Dr. Daney Jackson, has been invited to attend.
Light snacks and door prizes will be provided throughout the event.
