The more casual 9 a.m. service will include the Rev. Thomas Brown’s sermon “Running With Joy,’ the sacrament of Communion, praise choruses and hymns, led by song leader Barb Cruse and accompanied by Sharon Brown. The more traditional 11 a.m. service will include Brown’s message, the sacrament of Communion and special music by the Asbury Chancel Choir accompanied and directed by Jim Hutchinson. BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 306 Edison St., Uniontown, announces the start of its new Sunday school hour at 9:30 a.m. beginning this Sunday. They will begin a study on the life of Moses, which will run for 13 weeks. Worship begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. when the Rev. Bryan L. Kelley preaches with music led by Tim and Sally Soom. Meat, rolls and beverage will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a favorite holiday dish to share.

WORLD CHRISTIAN OUTREACH, Connellsville, sponsors the fourth annual Festival of Lights return to Connellsville on Saturday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Connellsville Junior High East, located on Falcon Drive next to the senior high school.

The Rev. Eric Detar, pastor of the New Stanton United Methodist Church, will bring his praise team and choir to the school at 6:30 p.m. so they will be performing while people are arriving for the Festival of Lights.

The Rev. Terry Land of Virginia will begin the festival by blowing a shofar, a Hebrew trumpet made from a ram’s horn.

“There will be praise and worship groups from all over Pennsylvania,’ said Shirley Clawson, coordinator. “This year, most of them are from southwestern Pennsylvania.

“We have some dancers from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. We have mime teams this year. We have drama teams this year – vocal and dance. And we have a lot of pageantry.’

This year’s theme is “Festival of Lights: A Celebration of Jesus 2005. The King Is Coming!’ A love offering will be taken. The Rev. Don Smith is pastor of World Christian Outreach Ministries.
