CENTERVILLE – Charges in five separate theft and burglary cases were waived to court Friday by a California man who also is wanted in Ohio. Timothy Wesley Moore, 28, of 1257 California Terrace, is being held in the Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond in one case, $15,000 in another, $10,000 in two others and $5,000 in the fifth case. He faces various charges, including burglary and theft in incidents that occurred between Sept. 29 and Oct. 22 in Centerville and California boroughs.

Although Moore entered a not guilty plea before Magisterial District Judge William Pelkey, the affidavit filed with one set of charges contends Moore gave California University of Pennsylvania police a signed confession. According to the affidavit, Moore confessed to breaking into Adamson Stadium on Sept. 29, damaging numerous locks. Moore told police he didn’t find anything valuable, so he didn’t take anything in that burglary.

According to police, Moore confessed to a total of 11 burglaries, 10 of which were in Washington County and one in Baltimore, Ohio. While the affidavit states Moore confessed to a burglary in North Bethlehem Township, two in Centerville Borough, one on university property and three each in California Borough and Charleroi Borough, so far he has only been charged in five of the cases.

Moore is charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief in the break-in at the stadium. Damages were estimated at more than $100. Burglary and criminal trespassing are both felony charges.

Moore also is accused of burglary, theft and criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into a storage garage at Nemacolin Country Club Oct. 3 and removing two portable radios and a screw driver. According to the affidavit, Moore then allegedly used the screwdriver to pry open a soft drink machine on the country club property. Damage to the soft drink machine is estimated to be in excess of $1,000.

Moore is accused of three break-ins in the California Area School District, on Oct. 6, 12 and 22. The charges related to the Oct. 6 and Oct. 22 break-ins were filed on the same complaint. A separate complaint was filed in the Oct. 12 break-in.

Moore is charged with two counts of burglary and possessing instruments of crime in the Oct. 6 and 22 incidents. In those break-ins, the vending machines in the schools and the middle school cafeteria office were broken into and the cash box was broken open. A school district collection cup for Hurricane Katrina victims was found between the seats in Moore’s vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Moore is charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property in the Oct. 12 school break-in. Soft drink machines were broken into and the money was stolen in that burglary.

Moore also allegedly attempted to break into a change machine at the A&G Car Wash on Route 40 in Centerville on two occasions.

According to the complaint filed against him, Moore unsuccessfully tried to pry the machine open about 4:30 a.m. Oct. 8. He allegedly returned about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and tried to use a portable drill to enter the machine. Damage to the machine was estimated at $1,500.

Moore also is wanted in Ohio for failure to appear for a court hearing on similar charges in the Marietta area. The Washington County, Ohio, sheriff’s office had filed two counts of possessing instruments of crime and three counts of breaking and entering against Moore in incidents on July 30 and Aug. 6. Moore was to have appeared in court on the charges Sept. 7, but failed to appear. Court records in Ohio show Moore has a criminal history of thefts and break-ins dating to 1996.
