Franklin R. Beattie
Franklin R. Beattie, 86, of Uniontown, Pa., went home to be with the Lord and he died peacefully in his sleep on November 7, 2005, with his loved ones beside him. He was born on December 8, 1918, in Gray’s Landing, Pa., to the now late William Beattie and Myrtle Nicklow Beattie.
In addition to his parents, a son, Franklin R. Beattie, Jr. and 14 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He worked in mining for over 37 years and retired from Ruane Coal and Coke Company. Frank was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Evans Manor, Pal’s Athletic Club of Masontown most of his life and a very proud member of U.M.W.A. since 1936 and was the financial secretary for Local 6312 and 1319 District two for 44 years. He enjoyed playing cards and other games with his family and was an avid Steelers Fan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Swank Beattie; nine children and their families: Deceased son, Franklin, Jr’s family Daliah Beattie-Maloney of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and children, Terri Amato and her children Cassandra, Calissa and Blaise; Bernadine Chilinski and her children, Justin, Jenna, Ryan and Rebecca; Ronni Sutton and her children Brandi and Vincent; Franklin, III and his children, Jessica, Julia and Franklin, IV, Joanne Ludrosky and husband, Robert Sarahsville, Ohio, sons, David and Mark and his children: Erin, Ashley, Emma and Luke all of Masontown, Pa., Patricia Kovach and husband, Thomas and their sons, Thomas and Timothy of Masontown, Pa., Jeffrey Beattie and wife, Cindy and their son, Brian; daughter, Jill and her children, Tyler and Madison; and son, Marc and his children Noah and Braedon of Valencia, Pa., Gene Beattie and wife, Cindy and his sons, Michael and Stephen, all of Washington, Pa.; Jacqueline Sprowls and husband Sam and her children: Chris, Allison and Adam all of Uniontown, Michele Frazee and husband, Don and her children, Kelly and her daughter, Taryn; Stephanie and her son, Zachary all of Smithfield; Cynthia Alderson of Uniontown; Donna Saunders and husband, Amos, and her children Amos, Jr. and his children Amos, III, Monica, Jai-Hyem, Angel and Andre and his children Ahrean and Justice all of Uniontown; Laura Talbert and her children: Brianne and her son, Jayden and Daniel all of Uniontown; and Andrea Fields and husband, Adam and her son Collin all of Hopwood; a stepson, George Gorcheck; two sisters: Agnes Kuntz of Cookville, Tenn. and Dolly Margaret Derov of New Salem and numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown street, Uniontown, Pa., where friends may visit today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Frank’s Life at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Howard officiating.
Interment will follow in Greendale Mennonite Cemetery, Masontown, Pa
