Michael S. Carbonara
Michael S. Carbonara, 61, of Uniontown, Pa., died Nov. 9, 2005, peacefully, at his home surrounded by family after a courageous, 13-year battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Brownsville, Pa., son of Mike and Lorraine Carbonara.
Michael was a retired educator. He served many roles in the public school system during his 35-year career. Michael began as an elementary science teacher and progressed to become high school principal at both Laurel Highlands and Albert Gallatin High Schools.
Michael was a devoted member of St. Therese de Liseux Roman Catholic Church and proudly divulged that he read the Bible and prayed nightly with his wife.
His passions included spending time with his family as well as playing golf, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Gideon and mother-in-law, Anne Popovich.
Michael is survived by his adoring, dedicated wife of 36 years, Joyce; three admiring daughters, Michelle and Nick Timperio of Uniontown, Tricia Carbonara of Uniontown, and Gina and Josh Kimball of Pittsburgh, Pa., two granddaughters, who he thought walked on water, Alex and Mikki Timperio; his parents, Mike and Lorraine Carbonara; three brothers, Joe and Bernadette Carbonara of Thompson, Ohio, Mark and Susan Carbonara of Uniontown, and Patsy Carbonara of Uniontown; two brothers-in-law, Frank and Mary Wroble of Conway, N.C., and Jerry and Carrolle Popovich of Strafford, N.H.; many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special cousin, Bill Jordan.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday morning until 9:30 a.m., when a Blessing Service will be held, followed by a 10 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth Zaccagnini as celebrant. Entombment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
