James DiVirgilio

James DiVirgilio, 87, of Perryopolis, Pa., passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005. He was born June 14, 1918, in Delmont, Pa., the son of the late Michael and Edith (Mitchell) DiVirgilio. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. James was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class.

James is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Catherine (Hoholick) DiVirgilio and one son, James M. DiVirgilio and wife, Kathleen of Farmington, Conn.; Two grandchildren: Laura Marie DiVirgilio and James Albert DiVirgilio at home. He is also survived by two sisters and six brothers: Mrs. Louise Giovannelli of Perryopolis; Mrs. Loretta Gabor of Aurora, Ohio; Henry DiVirgilio and wife, Betsy of Perryopolis; Dino DiVirgilio and wife, Norma of Perryopolis; Russell DiVirgilio of Pittsburgh; Albert DiVirgilio of Clairton, Pa.; Edmond DiVirgilio and wife, Beatrice of Haughton Lake, Michigan and Frederick DiVirgilio and wife Lena of Lorain, Ohio.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today, November 17, 2005, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be held also today, at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Friends may call on Friday until the time of a Prayer Service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Church, Perryopolis. The Rev. Father John T. Euker Celebrant. Interment will be in the Saint John’s Cemetery, Perryopolis.

Perryopolis Sons of Italy Lodge 730 will conduct a service today, at 7 p.m.

Graveside Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Goldstar Post 7023 and American Legion 752 of Perryopolis.
