Helen White
Helen White, 81, of Clarksville, Pa., passed away at 11:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, peacefully at Brownsville General Hospital, Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pa. Mrs. White was born in Clarksville, Pa., on Aug. 19, 1924, the daughter of the late Samuel Benyi Sr., and Mary Markovich Smoggie Benyi.
She spent most of her life in Clarksville. She was a longtime member of the Eagle’s Club of Clarksville. She was employed as an overseas operator and interpreter for Bell Atlantic, Uniontown, Pa., 15401 for 40 years. She was formerly a member of Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church of Clarksville.
Surviving are one sister, Betty Fieldson of South Bound Brook, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including two that she raised, Carol Williams wife of Luther Williams of Atkins, Va., and Sam Benyi and wife, Linda of Clarksville; those that considered her grandma, Marcus Williams and wife, Michelle and Joshua Williams of Atkins, Va.; and “great-grandchildren”, Breanna, Justice and Layne Williams.
She was the widow of Arthur Pete White, who died July 12, 2002. Also deceased are two sisters, Julia Sabo and Mary Laboda Saxon and four brothers, John, George and Steve Smoggie and Sam Benyi Jr.
Friends will be received today from 5 to 9 p.m., at the FRANK BURKUS FUNERAL HOME, 26 Mill St., Millsboro, and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Domenick Sgro officiating. Entombment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, Waynesburg, Pa.
