Stephen Gabriel Uhall
Stephen Gabriel Uhall, 89, of Jeannette, Pa., died peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with illness for the past seven years. He was born Aug/ 21, 1916, in Tower Hill, NS, a son of the late George and Mary Dargai Uhall.
Prior to his retirement, he was a caretaker at LaFayette Memorial Park. He was a former member of Saint Demetrius Church, Jeannette and Saint Nicholas Church, Brownsville, Pa.,
Stephen was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army 415th Medical Collecting Company in the Battle Rhineland Ardemes in central Europe. He served in France, Germany and Belgium.
Stephen will be remembered for his love of gardening and his kindness.
He managed to raise three small children on his own and take care of them well. The favor was returned.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Florence Parrella in 1955, an infant daughter, and three brother, Michael, George and John Uhall.
Stephen is survived by two sons: Franklin George Uhall and wife, Marcia of Jeannette, Stephen Paul Uhall and wife, Ramona of Tustin, Calif.; a daughter, Christine Uhall of Jeannette, with whom he resided; two grandchildren: Michael Anthony and Christine Marie Uhall; three step-grandchildren: Brian Frye, Richard and Billy Hill, three step-great-grandchildren: Tristan, Jade and Kai Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be profoundly missed. He was our hero.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Stephen’s life at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 NORTH FIRST STREET, JEANNETTE, PA., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Saint Nicholas Greek Catholic Church, Brownsville, Pa. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Saint Nicholas Greek Catholic Cemetery, Brownsville, Pa.
Members of Jeannette Combined Veterans will hold a service today at 7:30 p.m.
