Shooting injures Pittsburgh man

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

A 34-year-old Pittsburgh man was injured in a late-night shooting in Uniontown Tuesday. According to city police, Leonard Harris, who has a Pittsburgh address but who has been living in Uniontown recently, was shot at least once in the abdomen and possibly a second time in the leg outside 49 Pershing Court at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigating officer Donald Gmitter said that he could not confirm the extent of the injuries or Leonard’s condition Wednesday, but did note he was taken from the scene to Uniontown Hospital for treatment where he was subsequently transported to a Pittsburgh hospital.

No update on Harris’s condition was available as of press time.

Gmitter said the suspects in the shooting – two unidentified black men, one wearing a black coat and black hat; the other wearing a white and gray coat – fled the scene on foot.

While Gmitter said he could not reveal further information regarding the shooting, he did acknowledge he had some leads in the case.

“I have some things to follow up on,” Gmitter said.

In addition to city police, emergency personnel from Uniontown Fire Department, South Union Volunteer Fire Department, Uniontown Fireman’s Ambulance and the state police responded to the scene Tuesday.
