1 min read

STEWART TWP. – Emergency crews worked along a steep embankment on Route 381 Tuesday after a vehicle crashed over the hillside, killing at least one person. Officials from the Fayette County Coroner’s office who identified the man as a “missing person” pronounced the man dead at the scene shortly after the 2 p.m. accident.

The mangled white sedan appeared to vault guide rails along Route 381 into a hillside and then tumble into a deep ravine.

The accident was being handled by the Ohiopyle State Park Rangers, who were unable to be reached by press time Tuesday. The Fayette County Coroner’s office did not release any information Tuesday night.

In addition to the coroner’s office, volunteer firefighters from Ohiopyle, Springfield Township and Farmington along with emergency personnel from Fayette EMS and the state police responded to the afternoon crash, according to Fayette County 911.
