Club hosts literacy program

1 min read

Saturday is the kickoff date for the Brownsville Rotary Club’s Literacy Program, aimed at Brownsville Area School District students in kindergarten through third grade. The first of this year’s monthly sessions will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Thompson House Restaurant, 815 Water St., Brownsville. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at each grade level for the “Reading Around the World’ poster contest. The reading sessions will be held the second Saturday of each month at the Thompson House and will each feature a different country from around the world. Rotary officials urge students and parents to attend regularly and experience the benefits of reading in the students’ development. Preparing the reading center on the second floor of the Thompson House are Brownsville Rotary members (from left) Charles Miller, Edith Zetty, Ernie Nelson, Maria Fetock and Judy Riffle.
