James N. Fitzsimmons Sr., 76, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Uledi, Pa.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ewing Fitzsimmons and Helen Sickles Fitzsimmons, a sister, Annabel King, and a son-in-law, Timothy J. Check.

Mr. Fitzsimmons was a veteran of the Korean War, having served Honorably in the U.S. Army, was retired from the Fikes Dairy, and was a member of the Uniontown Third Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Harriet A. Wood Fitzsimmons; five children, James N. Fitzsimmons and his wife, Marilyn, David M. Fitzsimmons and his wife, Ruth Ann and Amy R. Mihalko and her husband, Paul, all of Uniontown, Karen A. Moore and her husband, William of New Salem, and Sandra M. Check of Clarksville, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and five siblings, Donald Fitzsimmons and his wife, Carol of Parma, Ohio, Ruth Hall of Greene County, Mellis Heck and her husband, John of Stockdale, Pa., and Jane Lehman and Grace Lincoln and her husband, Eugene, all of Uniontown.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME and will be announced.
