Mary Livak Metz
Mary Livak Metz, local area Chef and Caterer, 93, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday Morning, Oct. 6, 2005, in the Mount Macrina Manor Nursing Center. Born Aug. 22, 1912, in Proctor, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Vasil (Charles) Livak and Julia Mihajvlecz Livak.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Metz, her sister, Helen Inserra, and her brother, Charles Livak.
Mary was in her own right the Consummate Teacher and wealth of wisdom-ever ready to share her joy for cooking, her commitment to serving others, and her passion for living and loving fully. A Member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, The founding member of the PTG at the former St. John Byzantine Grade School, she was a member of the Senior Citizen Club and The Marion Women’s Club.
Mary is survived by her loving and devoted children: her son, Robert C. Metz of Wilkinsburg, Pa.; her daughter, Patricia A. Metz and husband, Craig Bowen of Baltimore, Md.; her sister, Ann DiBarry of Monongahela, Pa.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Freda Metz of Smithfield, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends and Family will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNONTOWN, on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday morning until 9:30 a.m., when a blessing service will be held. Divine Liturgy follows at 10 a.m., in St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Tom Wesdock as celebrant. Interment follows in Mount Macrina Cemetery. Parastas will be held in the funeral home Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
