Sylvia A. Hoist, age 88, of Masontown, Pa., died Thursday, October 6, 2005, in the Coville Personal Care Home, Masontown, Pa. She was born on December 22, 1916, in Buffington, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the John Hoist and Catherine (Lazuka) Hoist.

Sylvia worked as a cook for the L.T.V. Steel Riverboat Barges and was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Frank Hoist, Michael Hoist, Joseph Hoist, John Hoist, Stephen Hoist, Frances Hoist, Mary Hoist, Ann Koza and Josephine Perry.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, William, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today (Monday, October 10) until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with the Rev. Father James F. Bump as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Footedale, Pa.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
