Helen E. (Thorpe) Shay, age 75, of 1022 Smithfield/New Geneva Road, Smithfield, Pa., died Friday, October 7, 2005, at 7:44 p.m. in West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born in Listonburg, Pa., on October 8, 1929, the daughter of Curtin Thorpe and Julia (Tressler) Thorpe.

Helen was a housewife and a member of the Carmichaels (Pa.) Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her husband, Lennon Paul Shay, whom she married on August 1, 1945; a daughter, Julie Shultz of Smithfield, Pa.; a son, Steve Shay and his wife, Toni, of Waltersburg, Pa.: two daughters: Christina Wilson of Smithfield, Pa., and Cheryl and her husband, John McMahon, of Ronco, Pa.; two sons: Scot Shay and his wife, Jackie, of Uniontown, Pa., and Kevin Shay of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Tammy Myers of Hopwood, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.

Friends will be received in the KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESS, Route 21, Paisley, CARMICHAELS, Pa., on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 4 p.m., the hour of the Memorial Service.

Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva, Pa.

Arrangements are under the direction of the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church at 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa.
